First Baptist Church Forney in Forney

In 1868, what began with a body of believers meeting in schoolhouses and other temporary buildings near Mustang Creek became the First Baptist Church of Forney. In 1882, the twenty-five-member congregation moved into its first permanent building. Following a fire in 1919, the church moved into its second building in downtown Forney, which it used until 1972. In 1960, Rev. Jerry Griffin was called to be our 21st pastor. During his 33-year pastorate, the church grew exponentially. The church then called Dr. Jimmy D. Pritchard in 1994, and he faithfully served until his passing in 2021.

In June of 2001, under Pastor Pritchard's leadership, we moved to our new property, where we currently reside at 1003 College Street in Forney. In an effort to help us reach our ever-growing community, we opened our new multi-use Worship and Gymnasium Facility in April of 2019.

In June of 2022, members unanimously voted Nathan Lino, Founder and Senior Pastor of Northeast Houston Baptist Church, as Senior Pastor of FBC Forney. The Lord has provided Pastor Lino a three-fold strategy for reaching the Hwy 80 and Interstate 20 corridor with the gospel, which includes:

  1. Church planting: a large family of small- to medium-sized churches
  2. Compassion ministries: a community center for large-scale mercy ministries
  3. Christian education: a distinctly Christian K-12 school that was opened in August of 2024. Click here to learn more about our school.

FBC Forney en Español meets at the main campus of First Baptist Church of Forney at 1003 College Street. They offer Sunday services led by Pastor Eddie Lopez and Spanish-language LifeGroups designed for the whole family. Click here to learn more about FBC Forney en Español.

First Baptist Church Forney in Elmo

In May of 2026, we entered into a strategic partnership with Elmo Community Church, and our family of churches began. On Sunday, September 13, we will officially open First Baptist Church in Elmo.

Pastor Del Traffanstedt is the Location Pastor in Elmo. Pastor Mitch Chapman is the Co-Location Pastor. The church is located at 11243 County Rd 352, Terrell, TX 75161. If you missed the announcement, please watch this clip from Pastor Lino:
