Homeless Ministry

First Baptist Forney has partnered with Our Calling Homeless Ministry in Dallas. Our Calling is a movement of people reaching out to the poor and the homeless. We aren’t trying to band-aid or enable a destructive lifestyle. We don’t judge, condemn, or require anyone to listen to our message in order to receive help. We are trying to meet peoples needs while introducing them to a more productive and sustainable life through a relationship with their maker, Jesus Christ.

We are currently doing a men's clothing drive for the shelter.  Drop off boxes are located at the Information Centers.  The following is needed:
  • Men’s pants size 34, 36, 38 are the greater need.
  • new men’s socks
  • new men’s underwear all sizes
  • reading glasses
  • travel toothbrushes
  • deodorant (travel size)
  • razors (disposable)
  • L and XL and XXL shirts
  • shorts
  • shoes all sizes
  • duffle bags
  • blankets

Benevolence Ministry

This ministry helps those in need that are in our community. Throughout the year we will help individuals and families who need a little extra during tough times. Whatever the need is (gas, food, electric bill, clothing, etc) we want to show the love of Jesus Christ by meeting physical needs.

If you are interested in helping out with this ministry email slyle@fbcforney.org

Lighthouse Groups

The town of Forney has many neighborhoods that are continuing to grow. The Lighthouse ministry is designed to help us share the Light of the Gospel through a participative study of God's Word in our community so that many will come to faith in Christ. As groups form there are opportunities to be involved as a facilitator, host, or contact person.

To get started you need:
  • A growing walk with the Lord
  • Your Bible
  • A willing heart
  • 3 or 4 other Christians who want to work together (For example: 1 facilitator, 2 hosts, 1 contact person)
  • A place to meet - home, office, school, coffee shop, etc.
  • A list of people that are away from God that you will invite
  • A desire to share Christ with others

If you are interested in being involved in Lighthouse Groups email Scott at slyle@fbcforney.org

Upward Sports Evangelism

Each year our church sponsors Upward sports programs for Basketball, Soccer and Flag Football. Hundreds of families are involved in this program and many of them do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We have a unique opportunity to share the gospel and provide a church home for people right here in our community. Ways that you can help are:

  • Prepare and/or deliver outreach bags for players and families
  • Go visit a family that is interested in more information on joining the church or how to become a Christian
  • Share your testimony during halftime at a game
  • Serve as a coach, scorekeeper, referee

Local Construction Projects

Our construction teams will be in position to respond to various needs as they are presented to us from people and churches in our area that need help with repair, clean up and other construction needs.  Contact Richard Mason at burichardm@yahoo.com if you would like to help.
